Erin Cordle

Erin L. Cordle is Associate Director of the Office for Social Concerns of the Catholic Diocese of Columbus, Ohio, and serves as Catholic Campaign for Human Development and Catholic Relief Services director. In this capacity, she serves as an educator and advocate to further the understanding of the Church’s social justice teachings. Erin joined the office in 1998 as the CCHD/CRS coordinator. Erin also administers the diocesan family violence prevention program, Calming the Storm, and is a facilitator for the Protecting God’s Children program.  Erin has worked with a wide range of groups including parish social concerns committees, RCIA programs and parish school of religion, youth ministry groups, parish women’s clubs, family violence prevention advocacy groups, labor unions, interfaith groups focusing on peace and justice, Latino and Somali community organizations, service providers, and advocacy groups, the Ohio Council of Churches disaster readiness and response network, the Franklin County Citizens’ Corps, state and national fair trade advocacy groups. Some of the activities Erin has worked on include: domestic violence prevention train-the-trainers and parish response training programs, adult and youth retreats and days of reflection, parish retreats, Salt & Light Leadership Training, public issues forum training, diocesan senior citizens day celebrations, diocesan respect life Masses. Additionally, Erin served on the bishop’s family violence prevention task force and co-edited the diocesan Calming the Storm tool kit and resource guide. She also served on the clergy and legal/service providers forums organizing committees.

Her professional affiliations include: board secretary and finance committee chair of the Latino Empowerment and Outreach Network (LEON), communications chair of the Greater Columbus Workers’ Rights Board, member of the Central Ohio Interfaith Committee for Worker Justice, Ohio Council of Churches disaster response network, member of the Ohio VOAD (Volunteer Organizations Active in a Disaster) faith network, board member of the 1st Love USA (African AIDS orphans advocacy and support network), organizing member of the Franklin County Citizens Corps, organizing member of Faith Communities Uniting for Peace, past member of the Share the Vision sight loss support network, member of the Catholic Conference of Ohio’s Department on Social Concerns, member of the diocesan Adult Faith Formation Committee.

The Columbus Metropolitan Area Church Council selected Erin for a “Living Faith” award in 2002.

Erin received a B.S. degree in Education from Ashland (College) University, Ashland, Ohio. She earned a Master’s degree in Religious Education at Loyola University’s extension program, LIMEX, through the diocesan Religious Education Office.

Erin was born in Centerburg, Ohio. She resides in Grandview Heights, Ohio. She is a parishioner at the OSU St. Thomas More Newman Center.
